OMG! You really want to live at Upkot, but still have a few questions? No stress! Whether you want to know more about our student rooms, our service, the costs or how everything works exactly - we've got you covered. Below you'll find the most frequently asked questions, with clear answers. So you'll be ready in no time.
Are you an international student? Make sure to click through to our special FAQ for internationals.
The deposit is two months' rent. You transfer it to the third-party account of the property manager (Upgrade Estate Group).
The following costs are not included in the rent:
- One-time fee for the property inspection (at check-in and check-out)
- Price without kitchenette: €85
- Price with kitchenette: €125
- Fixed monthly cost for electricity, gas, water, waste, and of course: internet! Per project you can see how much the fixed cost is. No surprises.
Yes, every Upkot building has its own secure bicycle storage. Some are covered, others are not. Tip: a bicycle lock remains every student's best friend.
No, we do not reserve rooms without a signed contract. Everyone gets the same chances.
Do you rent or own a room and want to switch to a different one? Then you will get priority to choose a new one.
Our contracts run for a standard 12 months. Your room is entirely yours during the summer months too.
You clean your own room or studio.
The shared kitchen? That calls for teamwork! At the beginning of each semester, the Upkot coach draws up a cleaning schedule where the cleaning duties are equally divided among all kitchen users.
Of course, Upkot makes sure the rest of the common areas stay clean too. We are responsible for the weekly maintenance of the following spaces:
- Hallways
- Elevators
- Stairs
- Entrances
- Shared sanitary facilities
- Waste room
- Chill spaces
- ...
A mattress, desk chair and everything to make your room your own. We provide all fixed furniture: bed, wardrobe, desk, lighting and curtains.
Tip: a standard mattress is 90 x 200 cm. Double beds vary per project. Ask your Upkot coach for the exact dimensions.
Yes indeed. Trust us, we know by now how important WiFi is. 😉 In the majority of our buildings we now have our own 'Upkot' internet network. In some buildings we still work with an internet connection via Telenet or Smarteye - student internet, although we will switch to self-managed internet here in the future too. But rest assured: at every room you can easily stream Netflix, follow online classes, watch YouTube, ….
You can, but placing an extra fridge isn't necessary. Every Upkotter gets their own personal shelf in one of the fridges in the kitchen.
Bringing your own fridge anyway? Then you pay for the extra electricity.
In terms of soundproofing, you're in good hands here. We meet all legal requirements and add extra insulation between the rooms. You'll sleep soundly here. 😉
Yes, you can sublet your room according to our subletting formula (see also our general terms and conditions). You sign a standard 12-month rental agreement and find a tenant for your room yourself during your Erasmus or internship. Your Upkot coach will help you with the further details.
